駅から１５分ほど歩くので時間に余裕を。住宅街を抜けて、その静かな空間と門を目の前に心がすっと落ち着きます。予約は必須で、朝ごはん「朝茶」がおすすめです。 料理に使われているお皿にも、こだわりを感じます。店内のインテリアもシンプルな空間の中でも美しく、お庭や花からもインスピレーションをもらえる空間です。 建築は、SIMPLICITYの緒方慎一郎氏、HIGASHIYA GINZAも手掛けています。設計から照明までデザインされており、その空間で食事をするとその一つひとつのこだわりを感じます。 「目に触れるものすべてを自らデザインする」素敵な言葉だと思います。

It’s about a 15-minute walk from the station. Reservations are required, and breakfast “morning tea” is recommended. The interior of the store is simple but beautiful, and the garden and flowers are inspiring. The architecture is also handled by Shinichiro Ogata of SIMPLICITY and HIGASHIYA GINZA. I think that the theme is “intentional design everywhere you look.”

設計は、黒川紀章氏。国立新美術館は、生前に完成した最後の美術館です。 「森の中の美術館」をコンセプトに設計された建物の正面は、ガラス一面の設計になっており曲線を描いています。 美術館と建築が好きなら、建物に入り込む光が綺麗な時間に来て欲しいです。

「新」のロゴは、佐藤可士和氏がデザインされました。 一階と地下には、ストアがあり多くの作家さんたちの作品がフィーチャーされているので是非楽しんで欲しいです。

Designed by Kisho Kurokawa. This was the last museum completed during his lifetime. The front of the building, which was designed with the concept of “Museum in the Forest”, uses a single glass surface and draws a curve. If you like museums and architecture, it’s worth a visit for how natural light enters the building.

The new logo was designed by Kashiwa Sato.

Pronounced “Two-One Two-One” Architecture by Ando Tadao, inspired by Issey Miyake’s clothing design. The roof looks like a folding plate. Depending on the schedule, various talk event snad workshops are held here too. A magnificent space with bright natural light and cool concrete surfaces. Its function is largely focused on Japanese design. Admission: General 1,200 yen, college students 800 yen, high school students 500 yen, junior high school students and younger free.

A soba-mae restaurant along Keyakizaka-dori in Roppongi Hills. “Sobamae” is an Edo-era custom — drinks and small dishes first, soba to finish. A refined space that rewards a slow evening. Great for both lunch and dinner, and the sesame dipping sauce is not to be missed.

A cafe and music bar lounge in Roppongi. Cafe by day, bar by night — DJs Thursday through Saturday. In an area packed with galleries and museums, the food quality stands out: both delicious and beautifully presented. Opening early is another reason to come.

設計は、ニューヨークのホイットニー美術館や、ベルリンのグッゲンハイム美術館等を設計した、リチャード・グラックマン(Richard Gluckman)です。 現代美術を中心に展示をしていますが、ファッションから最先端のインスタレーションの展示までするので目が離せません。

Designed by Richard Gluckman, who designed the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York and the Guggenheim Museum in Berlin. The exhibition focuses on contemporary art, but covers everything from fashion to cutting-edge installations.

2024年10月に西麻布にオープンしたカリモク家具の複合施設。設計は建築家・芦沢啓治氏。グローバルな共創をコンセプトに、家具の展示・販売にとどまらず、ギャラリーやリサーチ機能を併せ持つ空間です。 木工の技術と現代デザインの接点を探るような場所で、カリモクが蓄積してきたクラフトマンシップを新しい視点で体験できます。

A complex facility opened by Karimoku Furniture in Nishi-Azabu in October 2024, designed by architect Keiji Ashizawa. Built around the concept of global co-creation, it goes beyond furniture retail to function as a gallery and research space. A place that explores the intersection of woodworking craft and contemporary design — Karimoku’s accumulated craftsmanship seen through a fresh lens.

豚組は、とんかつやさんです。少し、六本木から離れて西麻布寄りです。美術館とギャラリーを一通り回った後にゆっくりでもしっかり食べたい時におすすめ◎ 古民家を改築したような内装と青と白を基調としたお皿や器も素敵です。

This is a Tonkatsu restaurant, a little closer to Nishi-Azabu than Roppongi. A good place to eat after visiting some art museums. The interior looks like a renovated folk house and the white and blue plates they serve the food on are quite beautiful.

Specialty coffee right by Nakameguro Station, carefully brewed. The banana bread is also excellent — highly recommended. A perfect stop before or after a walk along the Meguro River.

代官山の地下に静かに佇む「ごはんや」。釜で炊いてくれるご飯と丁寧に構成した定食スタイルです。 シンプルだけれど飽きない、そういう料理が並ぶ空間のつくりも落ち着いていて好きです。開店前から並ぶようになってしまったのと、現金のみなので要注意です。

A quiet basement restaurant in Daikanyama. Rice cooked in a traditional pot, paired with carefully composed side dishes. Simple food that doesn’t get old, in a space that feels the same way. Note: it’s become popular enough that queues form before opening, and cash only.

代官山ヒルサイドテラスはF棟。1969年の最初の棟から約30年をかけ槇文彦が設計し続けた複合施設で、低層の建物が旧山手通り沿いに連なる街並みは今も代官山の象徴です。 世界初の「ローカルで自主編集するコンランショップ」として2023年にオープン。アジア各地のものづくりを軸にセレクトされた1F・B1Fの空間は、インテリアと暮らしへの視点がよく伝わる構成になっています。

Located in Hillside Terrace F — a complex that architect Fumihiko Maki designed over 30 years starting in 1969, its low-rise buildings along Kyuryamatedori remaining a defining presence in Daikanyama. Opened in 2023 as the world’s first locally curated Conran Shop, the 1F and B1F floors are edited around Asian craftsmanship, giving it a very different feel from the brand’s other locations.

A gallery space on the basement floor of The Conran Shop Daikanyama. It serves as a platform for the craftspeople, artists, and designers the buyers encounter on their sourcing trips across Asia. Rather than a fixed roster, the exhibitions shift like journal entries from those travels — something new to discover each visit.

コンランショップ代官山B1Fにある8席のみのティーバー。アジアのお茶文化を巡るコースで、日本茶からネパール、台湾まで産地ごとの味の違いを丁寧に案内してもらえます。 隠れ家的な場所で、静かに時間をかけてお茶と向き合える場所。ギャラリーと隣接しており、その場で飲んでいる茶葉を購入できたり、作家の器でいただけることも。

An 8-seat tea bar tucked into the basement of The Conran Shop Daikanyama. The course format takes you through Asian tea culture — from Japanese to Nepalese and Taiwanese teas, each explained with care. A hidden gem. A rare quiet space dedicated entirely to tea — you can purchase the leaves you just tasted, and the ceramics are often by artists from the adjacent gallery.

1980年竣工、建築家・白井晟一の設計。楕円形の中庭を中心に地下2階・地上2階が巡る構成で、展示室はわずか2室のみ。松濤の住宅街に佇むその外観は、重厚な石張りの壁と独特の曲線が組み合わさり、「哲学の建築家」と呼ばれた白井の美意識が凝縮されています。 建物そのものを見るために訪れる価値がある場所。展示よりも建築を意識しながら歩くと、細部へのこだわりが随所に見えてきます。

Completed in 1980, designed by Seiichi Shirai — known as “the philosopher’s architect.” The building wraps two underground and two above-ground floors around an elliptical courtyard, with only two exhibition rooms in total. The exterior, set into the residential streets of Shoto, combines heavy stone cladding with distinctive curves that embody Shirai’s singular aesthetic. Worth visiting for the building alone. Walk it slowly with the architecture in mind — the care in every detail reveals itself gradually.

1936年、「民藝運動」の創始者・柳宗悦が設計し開館した美術館。江戸時代の豪農民家を思わせる外観に大谷石の壁、木の格子戸。建物自体が民藝の美の体現です。 日本各地の陶芸・染織・木工から朝鮮、沖縄の工芸まで、「用の美」——日常の道具に宿る美しさを収集した館内は、見慣れたはずのものが全く違って見えてくる体験ができます。隣接する西館は柳宗悦の旧邸宅で、公開日には内部も見学可能。

Founded in 1936 by Soetsu Yanagi, the father of the Mingei (folk crafts) movement, who also designed the building. The exterior — Oya stone walls and wooden lattice doors — evokes the aesthetic of an old rural farmhouse, making the building itself a work of folk craft. The collection spans Japanese ceramics, textiles, and woodwork alongside Korean and Okinawan crafts, all united by Yanagi’s concept of “beauty in use.” Things you’d normally overlook suddenly look different here. The adjacent West Wing is Yanagi’s former residence, open on selected days.

中目黒の老舗焼き鳥店。カウンター越しに炭火で丁寧に焼かれる串を眺めながらいただくスタイル。 部位ごとの焼き加減の違いを楽しみながら、日本酒や焼酎と合わせるのが至福です。

A long-standing yakitori restaurant in Nakameguro. The counter seats let you watch each skewer worked carefully over charcoal. Best enjoyed slowly, drink in hand, paying attention to how each cut is handled differently.

中目黒の高架下に並ぶ約700mのリノベーション空間「中目黒高架下」の一角。ネパール茶専門店で、本格的なマサラチャイをはじめスパイスティーが揃います。 高架の柱と剥き出しの構造の中に静かに佇む店構えは、街のざわつきとは少し距離を置いた居心地のよさがあります。

One of the shops lining the 700-metre stretch of renovated space beneath the Nakameguro elevated railway. A Nepal tea specialist — masala chai and spice teas made properly. The exposed structure of the elevated tracks gives the space a particular texture. Quieter than the surrounding neighbourhood buzz.

池尻大橋から少し歩いた住宅街に潜む蕎麦店。名物の「すだちそば」は清涼感のある酸味がそばの風味を引き立て、一度食べると忘れられない味。 お酒を楽しめる「居酒屋蕎麦」のスタイルで、蕎麦前のつまみも充実しています。

A soba restaurant tucked into a residential street near Ikejiri-Ohashi. The signature sudachi soba — cold noodles with a squeeze of citrus — is the kind of dish that stays with you. The izakaya-style format means the small plates before the soba are worth lingering over too.

1933年に旧皇族・朝香宮家の邸宅として建てられたアール・デコ建築。内装設計はフランスの装飾美術家アンリ・ラパン、正面玄関ではルネ・ラリックが邸宅のために特別にデザインしたガラスレリーフ扉が出迎えます。 大客室のラリック製シャンデリアをはじめ、視界に入るすべてが美術作品と言えるほどの密度。建物そのものを見るために来る価値のある場所です。庭園も美しく、季節の展示とあわせて訪れるのがおすすめ。

Built in 1933 as the residence of the Asaka royal family, this is one of Tokyo’s finest examples of Art Deco architecture. The interior was designed by French decorative artist Henri Rapin, and the entrance features a glass relief door specially created by René Lalique. The great hall’s Lalique chandelier, etched glass doors, and curved reliefs make every surface a work of art. Worth visiting for the building alone — the garden is lovely too.

ファッション・ボタニカル・フードが混在する複合施設。中庭のクスノキと建物が溶け合うような空間構成が特徴的で、都会の中に生態系（ビオトープ）を持ち込むというコンセプトが建築と一体になっています。 3階のレストラン「LIKE」はミシュランビブグルマンを複数年連続獲得。アジア料理をベースにした料理とナチュラルワインの組み合わせが目当てで来る人も多い。

A complex mixing fashion, botanical goods, and food. The building’s layout merges with a camphor tree in the courtyard — the concept of bringing a “biotope” (a self-contained ecosystem) into the city made architectural. The third-floor restaurant LIKE has earned consecutive Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition. Many people come specifically for the Asian-influenced dishes and natural wine pairing.

A 1960s Japanese house renovated into LEMAIRE’s third flagship, opening in November 2024 following Paris and Seoul. The original clay walls, sudare bamboo blinds, and shoji screens were kept intact, layered with a Floyd sofa, vintage Kilim rugs, and hand-woven panels — a mix that suits the quiet, timeless quality of the clothes. Also functions as a cultural space for exhibitions and concerts.

恵比寿駅西口から徒歩3分のビル2階にある静かでおしゃれな居酒屋さん。九州の食材を使った創作和食と日本酒が中心で、季節で異なるメニュー。釜で炊かれたご飯に季節のお魚や野菜の混ぜご飯がとてもおすすめ。 予約しないと難しいお店ですが平日の５時など時々入れたりします。

A quiet, stylish izakaya on the second floor of a building 3 minutes from Ebisu West Exit. Creative Japanese food centred on Kyushu ingredients, with a seasonal menu. The rice cooked in a traditional pot — mixed with seasonal fish or vegetables — is highly recommended. Reservations are essential, but walk-ins sometimes work on weekday evenings around 5pm.

The architecture is by Hiroshi Sugimoto, a contemporary artist. Near Omotesando Station. As you enter the building, the interior and moss garden art creates an enjoyable atmosphere. 建築は青木淳氏が設計したルイ・ヴィトン表参道店の最上階（7F）にあるギャラリースペース。外壁のガラスブロックで覆われた建物自体も見る価値があります。 こじんまりとしたスペースながら、国際的なアーティストによるインスタレーション作品を無料で鑑賞できます。ショッピングのついでに、というよりも、ギャラリーとして目的を持って訪れてほしい場所。

A gallery space on the 7th floor of the Louis Vuitton Omotesando building, designed by architect Jun Aoki. The building itself — clad in layered glass blocks — is worth seeing in its own right. A compact but considered space showing installation works by international artists, free of charge. Worth visiting as a destination, not just a detour from shopping.

建設は、ヘルツォーク＆ド・ムーロン氏です。菱形のガラスと格子構造がユニークにみえ、建築好きには絶対に立ち寄っていただきたいです！

The construction is by Herzog & de Mouron. The diamond-shaped glass and lattice structure is unique and worth a visit from any architecture lover.

岡本太郎が1954年から亡くなるまで住み、制作を続けたアトリエと自邸を美術館として公開しています。庭には彼自身が制作した彫刻が点在し、建物の内外を問わずそこかしこに「岡本太郎らしさ」が溢れています。 こじんまりとしたスペースなので短時間で回れますが、あの圧倒的なエネルギーを空間ごと体験できる稀有な場所です。南青山の静かな住宅街にあることも含めて、ぜひ訪れてほしいです。

The studio and residence where Taro Okamoto lived and worked from 1954 until his death, now open as a museum. Sculptures he made are scattered throughout the garden, and his presence permeates every corner of the space — inside and out. Small enough to visit in an hour, but rare in the sense that you experience the energy of the work in the actual place it was made. Worth finding in the quiet residential streets of Minami-Aoyama.

Designed by Kengo Kuma. You can experience art works just by visiting the garden, museum, and architecture. Passing through the bamboo-covered entrance from Minami Aoyama, you will find it to be a very quiet space. In addition to the museum, there is a cafe in the garden.

設計は、シンプリシティの緒方慎一郎氏です。店主は、「八雲茶寮」和菓子のＨＩＧＡＳＨＩＹＡを経て独立されました。 いくつもの茶葉から選べるお茶だけでなく、季節の和菓子も◎私の店内で食べれる和菓子のおすすめは、氷室豆腐です！和菓子だけでなく、日本茶や茶器を販売しており、お土産やささやかな差し入れにもいいと思います。 席数が少ないので、美術館を回る前に直接お店に予約を取っておいた方がいいかもしれません。

Designed by Shinichiro Ogata of “Simplicity”. Reservations are recommended as the number of guests they can accommodate is small. The owner used to work for “Yakumo Saryo” Japanese sweets HIGASHIYA, but became independent. Not only do they serve a variety of different teas, but also seasonal Japanese sweets. The recommended Japanese sweets to try is called Himuro Tofu!

実は、茶酒も沢山あります。抹茶ビールや山椒のカクテルなど、茶葉をお酒に漬け込んだここでしか体験できないお酒を楽しんでみてもいいかもしれません。

They also serve many alcoholic beverages made with tea. The matcha beer and Japanese pepper cocktail are particularly worth ordering.

栃木・益子の古家具店「pejite」の東京店。明治・大正・昭和初期の日本の古家具を、オーナーの仁平透氏が目利きし丁寧にメンテナンスしてモダンな空間に仕立て直した品々が並びます。100年以上前のものも多く、インクや鉛筆を使った独自の仕上げで現代の暮らしにも馴染むように整えられています。 益子の作家の器も扱っており、家具と器が同じ目線で選ばれている感覚が心地よいです。

The Tokyo outpost of pejite, originally from Mashiko, Tochigi. Owner Toru Niihira selects Japanese furniture from the Meiji, Taisho, and early Showa eras, then restores each piece — using unconventional materials like ink and pencil — so it lives comfortably in a modern home. Many pieces are over 100 years old. Mashiko pottery is also stocked, chosen with the same eye as the furniture. The two feel like they belong together.

A specialist bookstore born from a collaboration between Shinkenchiku (Japan Architect) publishing and POST, the art book specialists. The ground floor is the bookshop; the second floor is a gallery space. The selection moves fluidly between architecture and art — Japanese and international titles, monographs, photo books. The space itself is thoughtfully made; easy to lose an hour here.

From the same creative direction as Yakumo Saryo — Shinichiro Ogata of SIMPLICITY. The experience of receiving freshly steamed manju straight across the counter reframes how you think about Japanese confectionery. Seasonal fresh sweets, dango, and baked goods are also available. A natural stop on any walk through Omotesando.

A celebrated yakiniku restaurant in the basement of a Minami-Aoyama building. Said to be the origin of nikumaki onigiri — meat wrapped around a bite of rice — a format that has since become standard at yakiniku restaurants across Japan. Reservation essential. 古い喫茶店の外観がとても素敵です。 なんと言っても、プリンとあんみつは絶品です。。コーヒーとよく合うプリンのビターなキャラメルのソースが◎ 行列になってしまうので、朝一番に行くのがおすすめです。美術館の前に糖分でエネルギーチャージ！

The appearance of this old coffee shop is very nice. The bitter caramel sauce of pudding pairs well with coffee. It is recommended to go first in the morning as a long line usually forms.

本館の建築は、渡辺仁氏。日本伝統の木造建築を鉄筋コンクリートに置き換えた、和洋折衷建築です。 明治5年(1872年)に開館した日本で最古の博物館。日本を中心とする東洋の美術 作品と考古遺物を収蔵しています。 一日中入れてしまうので、時間を十分に取っておくといいと思います。ミュージアムストアも大きいので楽しめます。鈴木大拙館の建築で有名な谷口吉生氏が法隆寺宝物館を手掛けています。すぐ近くなので寄ってみるのをおすすめします。

The main building was built by Hitoshi Watanabe. It uses a Japanese-Western blended design that replaces the traditional Japanese wooden building with reinforced concrete. This is the oldest museum in Japan, having opened in 1872. It houses oriental works of art and archaeological relics, mainly from Japan. It takes many hourse to see everything, so I think it’s a good idea to set aside enough time. The museum store is also large and extensive. Also, Yoshio Taniguchi famous for the architecture of Suzuki Daisetsukan, is working on the Horyuji Treasures Museum nearby.

An antique market held on the first and third Sunday of every month in the outdoor plaza of Tokyo International Forum. Around 250 vendors spread across the space — ceramics, textiles, furniture, and accessories from the Edo, Meiji, and Taisho periods, alongside international vintage pieces. Free entry. A good way to spend a morning searching for something unexpected. Pairs well with the Yanaka neighbourhood nearby — old things and new things in the same day. Check the schedule before visiting.

設計は、伊東豊雄氏です。日が暮れて、ライトがこぼれる窓もエントランスのドアも「窓」と同じ形なので、窓という概念さえもない…? 淡いピンクの建物は、銀座の街で目を惹きます。

Designed by Toyo Ito. The windows seem to disappear when sunlight hits at the right angle at dusk. The pale pink building is rather eye-catching.

設計は、イタリア人建築家のレンゾ・ピアノ氏。半透明のガラスブロックに覆われた建物は、昼と夜とで雰囲気が変わります。 エルメス財団主催によるユニークな国内外のアーティストによる現代美術の展覧会を年に4回開催しています。

Designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano. The atmosphere of the building, which is covered with translucent glass blocks, changes between day and night. The Hermès Foundation holds four exhibitions of contemporary art by different Japanese and foreign artists.
